With over 500 member food and agricultural companies, the Sud de France brand genuinely reflects the region’s fast-growing, dynamic food and agriculture sector.
In economic terms, in Languedoc-Roussillon the food and agriculture industry employs 25 000 people, has 1200 companies and makes a turnover of 8 billion Euros, of which 10-13% is in exports. 23.2% of the jobs in the region (not including the energy sector) and 14.5% of firms are in food and agriculture.
The sector also accounts for 19.8% of industrial activity with 8.2% for diverse food industries, 7.7% for the drinks industry, and 3.9% for the meat industry.
The food and agriculture industry is one of the Languedoc-Roussillon’s main assets with a turnover that has risen steadily over the last ten years. It creates wealth and employment.
Production is extremely diversified with highly characteristic traditional terroir based products such as wines, cured meats, oils, cheese, prepared foods, especially seafood, and many renowned food brands.
