Cooked and tinned foods

Laure is always on the rush: too much work, too much to do, too much to organise… “I’ll be away all of next week… How will I manage to find a gift for my father whose 70th birthday we celebrate next Sunday? ” The solution seems logical: order online. Her father is a gourmet who loves Languedoc-Roussillon cuisine, and she is going to make him a huge hamper of local produce.

So, there is some intensive web browsing. She finds what she was looking for. First of all, foie gras from the Aude valley, he loves it. She chooses one plain foie gras and one foie gras with figs. “Let’s look at the cooked foods now”, she says to herself, “Hang on, there is a Castelnaudary cassoulet with duck confit, and a Camargue bull gardiane, this is perfect.” A few clicks and everything is in the basket. Anything else to add? She knows he will be happy with some pâtés, so she selects a few tinned pâtés, including a Cévennes chestnut one, a Lozère one with porcini mushrooms, and a morel one. And the basket will not be complete if you are to forget the seafood! She swiftly browses through produce pictures on the site, picking up Sète cuttlefish in rouille sauce, anchovies from Collioure with parsley, and fish pâtés. The virtual basket is almost perfectly composed… However she still has to add two or three items of sweet preserves for good measure. She finally decides on a jar of Mauguio Gariguette strawberry jam, a jar of Cévennes honey, and another jar of preserved tomatoes.  Along with a good Languedoc wine, and some Limoux nougat and some more Catalan touron nougat, she is certain to offer a wonderful treat to her father.

As things stood, she decides to order some pre-lunch appetisers for next Sunday. Some terrines, some olives (Lucques and Picholine), and some spreads of course: Nîmes brandade, aubergine caviar, a green and a black olive tapenade, and some anchovy paste. She is about to confirm the order when she notices the word “soups”. Mediterranean rock fish soup! “I love this!” One click and… Straight into the basket!

A few more clicks, a few seconds to enter and validate her details, and there you go!
